Welcome! The FAC is excited to present Mikayla’s Media Corner! With the help of the FAC team, I have rounded up some of our favorite television series, movies, books, albums, etc and am so excited to share them with you all. Every Friday we will recommend media content that you can use to fill your weekend!

iWeigh by Jameela Jamil is a podcast that I have recently begun to listen to. So far, I have listened to the Reese Witherspoon and Beanie Feldstein episodes. Jameela Jamil is thoughtful, sharp, and funny while shedding light on important social issues such as weight, women, and the entertainment industry. Listening to Jamil talk through these issues really hits home on experiences that I believe most women struggle with. (Link to image)

2. Sunbathe by Tainy and Miguel is a vibe, it’s ooey gooey and just happy. I love Miguel’s vocals and the beat. As Miguel croons about the sunshine of a woman, I can almost forget about the piles of snow outside my window. (Link to image)

3. If you are a poetry person, check out The Chaos of Longing by K.Y. Robinson. It was beautifully written and captures the feelings of unrequited love. She dives into complex ideas of sexual and romantic relationships. The use of imagery and how she verbalizes her emotions was very powerful. (Link to image)

4. Booksmart is on Hulu and I can not watch this enough. If you haven’t seen this movie yet do it. Promise me you will close this tab and watch it. The movie is so funny. It’s witty and absurd at times. It flips the traditional high school narrative and creates multifaceted characters. I love that the movie centers on a friendship that has two strong young women. 5. All of Modern Family was recently released on Hulu. It’s a fun easy watch and gives all the nostalgic vibes. Watching the show age makes me feel old, but it’s the perfect feel good quarantine binge. (Link to image)

6. Finally, make it a marathon with the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy. The third in the series came out a few weeks ago and it is everything you could possibly want in a rom-com. My favorite thing about the third movie was how it refocused on Lara Jean allowing her to move forward and prioritise her dreams. Lara Jean is my favorite character (Sorry Kitty!) and I always love seeing a young woman grow into her own. *Bonus* Peep the movie’s spotify soundtrack. (Link to image)
